THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter
and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of
disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Our humanitarian mission connects us to people and communities across the nation and around the world. We
are committed to ensuring that our people, programs and services reflect the diversity of the people and
communities we serve.
Volunteers are a vital part of our daily operations.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Blood Services - Help staff blood drives, registering donors and providing them with refreshments after
they have given blood. Hours are flexible! We provide the training and the uniforms - you set your own
availability schedule, Monday through Sunday. We are also in need of volunteers who are willing to devote one
day each month as a Blood Service Aide or Blood Service Driver. Aides will help nurses in the donor room, in
addition to registering donors and serving refreshments. Drivers will help transport volunteers to and from
Blood Drive sites using Red Cross vehicles. The schedule varies for Blood Drives, although they are usually
held during the day on both weekdays and weekends. Contact:

Disaster Action Team - We will train you as a Red Cross Disaster Action Team specialist. Flexible
hours, seven days a week. All volunteers receive "Introduction to Disaster Services" course, then take
specialty training in areas such as Damage Assessment, Family Casework, Etc. All training is free. Opportunity
to serve not only local disasters, but also national assignments. In addition, we offer Fire Safety Education
Trailer to the elementary schools in the county and need volunteers to present it to the youth - training will
be provided. Volunteers are also needed to provide immediate disaster relief to those affected by a disaster
and, as required, to provide emergency workers responding to the incident. Training will be provided by American
Red Cross Certified Instructors. Contact: Rick Paul
Health & Safety Services - Volunteers are needed to teach CPR, First Aid, Water Safety, Babysitting,
and other child- related safety and accident prevention programs. Volunteers are also needed to help staff
Health Fairs throughout Camden County, providing the community with American Red Cross information and
resources. Good communication skills and ability to travel to assignments county-wide is a must. We provide

Community Services - Volunteers are needed for a variety of special projects, such as Health Fairs
and Clinics, Public Relations, mailings, data base management and office support. Contact:

Special Events and Fundraising - Join a Red Cross Special Event Committee or suggest a special event
you might be interested in organizing. We are open to suggestions and welcome your input. Our current special
events include A Night at the Sixers, Trick or Treat Golf Tournament (held in October of every year) and the
Good Neighbors Awards Dinner. Additionally, volunteers are needed to help wrap gifts and deliver food and gifts
to needy families for the Adopt-A-Family Holiday Project, which runs from October through December. We are
